Stories from the lives of people in the past
1.1 listen to, discuss, retell and record a wide range of stories from the lives of people who have made a contribution to local and/or national life and to the lives of people in other countries through technological, scientific, cultural and artistic activities as well as those who have contributed to social and political developments
1.2 become aware of the lives of women, men and children from different social, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds, including the lives of ‘ordinary’ as well as ‘more famous’ people
1.3 listen to local people telling stories about their past

2.1 Brainstorm important events during history and important people during those events.
2.2 Make a list of important events during history and important people during those events.
2.3 Make a table of important events, important people and the contribution those people made to those events.
2.4 Categorise the contribution as either technological, scientific, cultural, artistic, social or political.
2.5 Add the following information about the important people in your table. Their social, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds.
2.6 Using the internet find at least two stories about one of the important people in your table.
2.7 Listen to and record the chronology of events of the stories you collected.
2.8 Record the actions and feelings of the characters in the stories.
2.9 Record the attitudes and motivations of the characters in the stories.
2.10 Compare and contrast the stories you have listened to.
Create a presentation/video narrative including the following:
3.1 Important technological, scientific, cultural, artistic, social or political events in history.
3.2 One important person and the contribution that person made to an event.
3.3 Their cultural, ethnic, religious and social background.
3.4 Evidence of stories involving this person.
3.5 Similarities between the different stories in, chronology, actions and feelings, attitudes and motivations.
3.6 Differences between the different stories in, chronology, actions and feelings, attitudes and motivations.
3.7 Place this person on a timeline in relation to other important people and events in history.
Your artefact will be evaluated using the following criteria:
4.1 Accuracy of important people, events and their contributions. (15 %)
4.2 Evidence of stories which tell us about the lives of one of these people. (15%)
4.3 Evidence of similarities in the stories about the lives of this person. (15%)
4.4 Evidence of differences in the stories about the lives of this person. (15%)
4.5 Your report on the chronology, actions and feelings, attitudes and motivations of this person.(15%)
4.6 Accuracy of timeline (15%)
4.7 Clarity and design of your artefact. (10%).
